彰化銀行將在26日董事會中討論成立「台新銀、彰銀整併研究小組」案，財政部次長曾銘宗再度表達反對立場，並將全力捍衛公股權益，對此，台新金董事長吳東亮23日則強調，「我們會繼續再溝通」。
其實，今年台新金股東會，對於彰銀合併台新銀的可行性，股東阿土伯就提出臨時動議，授權董事長吳東亮在必要時向法院提出告訴或行政訴願，並經投票表決，也獲得現場股東一致通過。會後吳東亮也表示，這絕對是最後不得已的手段，還是會先尋求各種管道，大家先坐下來談，可以先在彰銀董事會進行討論。
隨後，彰銀常董會就以人數優勢通過成立「台新銀、彰銀整併研究小組」案，引起彰銀工會、財政部公股反彈，26日彰銀董事會也將就此議案進行討論。不過，曾銘宗公開表示，公股會以「董事長陳淮舟違反分層負責、不符公司治理」等理由反對，同時，要求公股董事代表意見一定要列入當天會議紀錄中備查，維護公股權益。
對此，吳東亮23日出席南山人壽50周年感恩茶會受訪時則強調，「我們會繼續再溝通」，至於有無信心在彰銀董事會提案通過，吳東亮僅以「謝謝」回應，未再表示意見。
不過，在南山人壽感恩茶會上，新光吳家兄弟包括新光金董事長吳東進與吳東亮難得在同一公開場合出現，只是兩人不論進場或是出場都是一前一後，吳東進先到場，吳東亮則在活動開始後才進場，而且兩人座位也相隔一段距離。活動結束後，吳東亮在與現場來賓打招呼後，在媒體圍堵下快速離開，吳東進則是待到最後才走。
